• CBC (blood cell counts): This blood test is the most common test performed. It is used to measure the types and numbers of cells in the blood, including red and white blood cells and platelets. This test helps us determine your general health status, allows us to screen for disorders as well as enabling us to evaluate your nutritional status. It can help us evaluate symptoms you might have such as weakness, fatigue and bruising. This blood test can also assist us in diagnosing conditions such as anemia, leukemia, malaria and infection.

• Basic and Comprehensive Metabolic Panel: The basic metabolic panel test measures glucose, sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, carbon dioxide, blood urea nitrogen and creatinine which can help us determine your blood sugar level, electrolyte and fluid balance as well as your kidney function. The Basic Metabolic Panel can assist us in monitoring the effects of medications you are taking, can help diagnose certain conditions, or can be part of a routine health screening.  The comprehensive metabolic panel shows us everything the basic panel does but also includes 6 additional tests that focus on organ functions, including the liver.

• Lipid Panel: The lipid panel is a group of blood tests that we use to evaluate your cardiac health risks. This blood test includes your cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

• Prothrombin Time: This blood test is also known as PT and PTT. We use this test to measure how long it takes your blood to clot. This coagulation blood test measures the presence and activity of five different blood clotting factors. This blood test can screen for bleeding abnormalities, and may also be used to monitor your medication treatments that prevent the formation of blood clots.

• Glucose / HbA1c: This laboratory blood test looks at your blood sugar and can assist us in diagnosing diabetes and your risk for developing the disease.  HbA1c is a test used to evaluate the average amount of sugar in your blood over the last 2-3 months, this is how we diagnose Diabetes.

• Vitamin Blood Tests: These blood tests measure the levels of certain vitamins in your body such as vitamin D, calcium, potassium, vitamin B-12 and folate. These vitamin levels help us determine your risk for various illnesses as well as your individual need for supplements and dietary changes.

• Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG): This blood test measures the level of hCG hormone present in your sample of your blood. Going beyond the urine pregnancy test, the hCG test can help us confirm a pregnancy, determine the age of the fetus, help us spot an abnormal pregnancy and diagnose a potential miscarriage.
